The DTSB&Co Asian American Youth Outreach Program provides young people with an opportunity to build community. Students come together to collaborate on various projects promoting self-actualization and expression.

The program holds fall and spring sessions that run six weeks. During this time, students meet twice a week to brainstorm ideas for projects, to work together on the projects they envision, and to tour art exhibits in various museums.

In spring of 2011, the program produced a 16-minute video about identity called, Finding Self: Asian America’s Youth, which premiered at the Mayor’s celebration of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. You can check out the video online here.

Eight students from SWW participated in the video project! The students are: Nikko Bilitza, Yuxi Chen, Emily Fullerton, Son Le, Arjun Pappajohn, Krisha Paz, Ruby Lee Simon, and Anatol Steck. Over half of these students have been participating in this program since it was first developed and continue to play an integral role in outreaching to new students. Watch the video.
