In this pilot program organized by DC Public Library and the Library of Congress, students Cyerra Wheeler, Katie Thomas-Canfield, Shaan Taylor and Nikko Bilitza have embarked on a yearlong initiative to capture a portrait of America’s workforce. They are learning professional oral history interviewing techniques from Library of Congress folklorists and DC Public Library oral historians, as well as identifying local workers in the community, and conducting interviews with them. The students will be logging, processing, and creating metadata for inclusion in the Library of Congress’ archive. Congratulations to our students for helping to document this historic time in American life.
