Walls Lacrosse—So Cool, It’s Hot

Posted on: March 24th, 2014 by Admin

School Without Walls High School Boy’s Lacrosse is off to a terrific start for the 2014 season!

On March 15, the Fighting Penguins played in the Winners DC Lacrosse Classic, where they beat KIPP Academy, 6-3, and on March 20, the team came from a 2-0 deficit to beat Oxon Hill, 10-4.

The LAX team started in 2010 with a few students learning the game. In just four years, the Boy’s Lacrosse Team has grown into a solid crew, thanks to the tremendous coaching efforts of Head Coach Mike Collins, and Assistant Coaches Kiehl Christie, Billy Fort, Mackie Avis, Kyle Webb, and Brandon Petillo.  The entire coaching staff is unpaid volunteers, and they bring their unique talents and love of the game to the Walls team. (Thank you coaches!)

The next match is on Thursday, March 27 at 5:30 p.m., against Wilson High School. Wilson High School is accessible by the Tenleytown-AU Metro Station, on the Red Line.

This will be a tough game against a tough opponent, so we hope that we can count on the support of the whole community – come on out and cheer for our Fighting Penguins!
