Walls’ Ultimate Frisbee team, the Flightless Bird Squad, began in 2011 and has been a growing club team ever since. Though there are two professional Ultimate Frisbee teams in DC we are still far from being a DCPS-sanctioned sport. But that will not stop our student athletes from throwing discs down the polo field in West Potomac Park and organizing their own league.

The Flightless Bird Squad has been preparing for their spring season by participating in a local Ultimate league this fall. It has been a good way for the team to get together on weekends, and a nice way to get to know their new coach, Matt Grosso. Despite playing against adults who have a lot more Ultimate experience, our students have held their own and are ready to jump into the high school spring season with both feet.

Ultimate is a co-ed club sport at Walls and anyone is welcome to play. There will be an informational meeting at school just after the new year. Stay tuned for details!
