Support DC Tuition Assistance Grant increase

Posted on: February 15th, 2016 by Anastasia Miller

The DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DC TAG) provides DC residents with a $10,000 annual subsidy for their child’s tuition at any public college or university. It is meant to give DC students the same low-cost access to comprehensive, public, land-grant colleges and universities that residents of every state have.

As helpful as the grant is, the amount has not increased since the program was first enacted, at a time when tuitions weren’t nearly as high as they now are. Raise DC TAG is working to increase the amount of the grant.

As part of its campaign to raise awareness and show Congress strong public support, the Raise DC TAG team asks SWWHS parents and supporters for their assistance.

Please write or email your council member and ask them to support the resolution Ward 2 DC Councilmember Jack Evans introduced in July 2015:

“to expand the D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant program to fund the entire difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition for DC students at four-year public colleges and universities throughout the US, Guam and Puerto Rico.”
