Get Involved: HSA Volunteers
Remember when parents were tripping over each other to volunteer for their child’s kindergarten classroom? Begging to be a field trip chaperone in second grade? Stepping up to plan the Halloween party in fourth? Those days may be long gone, but high school is not too late to stay involved. Get a peek at the daily lives of your teenagers by volunteering a few minutes or a few hours at the school and with the HSA.
Parental support and participation is a key component to any school’s success. While School Without Walls High School has some of the best educators in DCPS, it is the combined efforts of teachers and parents/guardians that afford our students the quality education they deserve.
We have a lot to be proud of. Our students work hard to excel, and we know that parents are behind the scene pushing and encouraging.
Roll up your sleeves again this year and contribute your expertise and interests with the school and HSA. You can join a committee, help with fundraising, work with an afterschool club, organize the family picnic or a teacher appreciation day. Sit for a spell selling school spirit items at events and watch your child’s world go by.
There are many more opportunities for volunteering. Make this year another phenomenal success for the students at School Without Walls High School by donating your time.
