Congratulations! School Without Walls High School Street Law student Nkechiryerem Agbaerueke won first prize in the VIDEO submission category at the “DC Teens Take on the DC Human Rights Act” multimedia art exhibition held at Georgetown University Law Center on November 28, 2012.
The members of the D.C. Commission on Human Rights invite you to the Commission’s Human Rights Awards Gala on December 17, 2012 at the Kaiser Family Foundation, 1330 G Street, N.W., from 5:00 to 8:00pm. At this event, the first place projects from all nine art submission categories will be on display and the overall competition winners will be announced. Additionally, the Commission will recognize the 1977 DC City Council that enacted the DC Human Rights Act of 1977. Six living members of that City Council have agreed to attend. Lastly, the Commission will award the 5th Annual Cornelius R. “Neil” Alexander Humanitarian Award. This year’s Neil Alexander awardee is longtime education and community advocate, Barbara Lett Simmons.
The student who placed first in their submission category is also invited to the gala along with his parents, guardians, and other family members who may want to attend. The Student Awards Gala will be held on December 17th, from 5-8 p.m. at The Kaiser Family Foundation’s Barbara Jordan Center on G Street.
