Congrats To SWW Senior Sasha Rickard Representing DC At The 2013 National Youth Science Camp!

SWW Senior Sasha Rickard has been selected to represent the District of Columbia at the 2013 National Youth Science Camp in West Virginia this summer. The camp includes hiking, exploring the woods surrounding Camp Pocahontas, doing science with professionals and peers from other states and countries, and taking field trips – including to meet officials back here in Washington. Past participants have gone on to win Nobel prizes, serve in Congress, start businesses, and even fly in outer space. Last year’s DC attendees called it a life-changing experience. All travel to and from the camp as well as camp fees are covered and no cost.

Sasha Rickard Chosen to Represent District of Columbia at National Youth Science Camp

Sasha Rickard, a 2013 graduate of School Without Walls Senior High School from Washington, District of Columbia, was selected to represent District of Columbia as a delegate to the 2013 National Youth Science Camp® held in West Virginia from June 26 to July 20. Rickard is planning to study Mechanical Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, MA, this fall. Rickard joins 121 other top science students from across the nation and around the world for this acclaimed honors science leadership program. For the next month, the delegates will be immersed in science lectures and hands-on directed studies led by some of the top scientists and professors from around the world. They will also have the opportunity to embark on many outdoor adventures, including climbing, camping, caving, and mountain biking.
