Varsity Debate Team Heading to May 2016 Nationals

Congratulations to the Walls debate team for an amazing showing! Earlier in March three teams from SWW debated at the metrofinals, which invites only the best teams from the region to vie for a spot in the National tournament in May. One of our varsity teams (Noa Rosinplotz and Mahler Revsine) came in second which means they’ll be heading to Sacramento in May.

SWW Robotics Team advances to FIRST semifinals

Our congratulations go out to the SWW Robotics Team for making it to the semi-finals after the FIRST Robotics district competition! The team—which has more than a dozen members this year—showed creativity and grit in competing against 38 other teams, many with much more experience and equipment.

Walls Students Compete and Win at NAIMUN in February

Congratulations to the School Without Walls Model United Nations team, which continues to represent our school well on the collegiate Model U.N. circuit! In mid-February, 18 Walls students attended the North American Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN), hosted by Georgetown University. More than 3,500 delegates attended NAIMUN, one of the largest and most competitive conferences in the world.

In January, senior Nico Stauffer-Mason, junior Jack Nugent, sophomore Montana Lee, and freshmen Saskia Daugherty, Christopher Bond, and Eli Kukla represented Walls at Columbia University’s Model U.N. Conference, one of the most prestigious conferences in the country. All six Walls students won individual awards; furthermore, School Without Walls received the Best Small Delegation Award in recognition of the team’s collective success. Please congratulate the Walls team on its Ivy League Model U.N. success!

Walls Seniors Sweep Posse Scholarships

Members of the Class of 2016 have won 8 of the 16 Posse Foundation Scholarships offered this year to DCPS seniors.

Three SWW Students Selected as 2016 OSSE Scholars

SWWHS is proud to announce that three students have been selected as OSSE Scholars. DC’s OSSE Scholars program provides high-achieving, academically-motivated students who exhibit financial need with the opportunity to attend selective summer college programs

Congratulations to the Walls debate team!

Walls’ debate team had an excellent showing at the Washington Arlington Catholic Forensic League December 12 mega tournament, with two 3rd-place finishes in Varsity and two 5th-place finishes in Novice. The rest of the team had stellar records as well—all the students put a lot of work into their cases and practices.

Winning Arguments at the DC State Moot Court Competition

On September 14, Walls students competed in the DC Marshall-Brennan DC State Moot Court Competition at American University’s Washington College of Law.

The Ultimate Spirit of the Game

Walls’ co-ed Ultimate Frisbee team, the Flightless Bird Squad, has been a growing club team since 2011. Anyone is welcome to play. Read on for more about the sport and how to join the team in the new year!

SWW Model UN Team Triumphs in South African Meet

Four Walls students captured the first place prize in October at the South Africa Model UN International Conference in Cape Town, competing against nine top teams from each province of the country.
