Affordable Mental Health Care

Walls’ Harry Potter Alliance is working to increase awareness about the importance of — and access to — affordable mental health care.

Did you know that only 44% of adults and 20% of adolescents and children with mental health disorders receive the care they need? And that’s only people with diagnosed mental health disorders. Common mental health disorders include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), and autism. They can be affected by biological factors, life experiences, and family history. Many people do not receive help with their disorders simply because they do not know where to find affordable mental health care — but help is available! Places like the GW Center Clinic, Family Matters of Greater Washington, and the Department of Behavioral Health can be found all over DC and provide care for little to no cost.
