Admissions Requirements and Timeline
All students must apply online at www.myschooldc.org in order to be considered. The My School DC lottery is a school-choice service provided to families interested in enrolling children in DC public schools, including selective high schools like School Without Walls HS. More information about the My School DC application process can be found here.
Students must have a 3.0 GPA in their core subject classes and provide a copy of their transcript/final report card from the 2015-16 school year. All documentation has to be uploaded onto the online application at www.myschooldc.org.
If a student passes all the requirements above, they will be invited to take a standardized, proprietary test. This test will include multiple choice math (Algebra I and Geometry for rising 9th-10th graders; Algebra II/Calculus/Trigonometry for rising 11th-12th graders), multiple choice reading comprehension and a writing prompt. It is an un-timed test and students will have as long as they need to complete the test. Tests are scored based on the highest score of the tested students. Therefore, we cannot tell you the exact score your student will need to receive to be admitted to the next round.
Student and Parent/Guardian Interviews
If a student passes the test, they will be invited, along with the parent/guardian, for a panel interview at the school. The panel consists of faculty, staff and students. We ask that students and parents do their best by being themselves!
Students are admitted based on their admissions test performance, interview and lottery status. If you have any questions about the lottery process, please contact DCPS’ Critical Response Team at (202) 478-5738, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.
