Admissions Requirements and Timeline: SY 2018-2019

All students must apply online at www.myschooldc.org in order to be considered.

Requirements to Apply:

Students must have an overall 3.0 GPA and provide a copy of their transcript/final report card from the 2016-17 school year (ex. If your student is applying for the 9th grade, we will need to review his/her 7th grade report card). All documentation has to be uploaded onto the online application at www.myschooldc.org.

Admissions Test:

If a student passes all the requirements above, they will be invited to take a standardized, proprietary test. This test will include multiple choice math (Algebra I and Geometry for rising 9th-10th graders; Algebra II/Calculus/Trigonometry for rising 11th-12th graders), multiple choice reading comprehension and a writing prompt. While the test is untimed, it typically takes students 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. Tests are scored based on the highest score of the tested students. Therefore, we cannot tell you the exact score your student will need to receive to be admitted to the next round.

Student and Parent/Guardian Interviews:

If a student passes the test, they will be invited, along with the parent/guardian, for a panel interview at the school. The panel consists of faculty, staff and students. We ask that students and parents do their best by being themselves!

Student Admittance:

Students are admitted based on their admissions test performance, interview and lottery status. If you have any questions about the lottery process, please contact DCPS’ Critical Response Team at (202) 478-5738, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.

Please see Timeline below for specific dates.
