Sylvia Isaac, Associate Principal

Sylvia Isaac has been employed in education for 24 years as a social studies teacher and assistant principal for District of Columbia Public Schools. Ms. Isaac has spent her entire career at School Without Walls, where she has taught AP U.S. Government, D.C. History, World History, and Saturday Academy. Ms. Isaac attended the University of California–Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. She received a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and has taken an extensive number of graduate courses at George Washington University.

Ms. Isaac has participated in numerous professional development opportunities and has traveled to Cape Town, South Africa; Budapest, Hungary; and Cambridge University in England, representing DCPS. During the summer of 2010, Ms. Isaac was selected to coordinate the Gilder Lehrman teacher summer institute on Slavery and the Underground Railroad held at Yale University. Ms. Isaac also was selected as the 2010 District of Columbia Assistant Principal of the Year.
