Stellar Results at March STEM Fair

Congrats to the 13 SWW students who participated in the DC STEM Fair last weekend! SWW students competed in 5 categories, and won every category they were in. Congrats in particular to Sam Lossef (9) and Sylvia Gisler (12), who won Grand Awards and will be representing SWW and DCPS at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) as finalists in Phoenix, Arizona, in May. This will be the 7th year in a row that SWW students have served as Intel ISEF finalists.

Fair results are listed below:

  • Xiu Chen (12) – 2nd in Medicine and Health
  • Sylvia Gisler (12) – 1st in Zoology, 2nd Grand Award, ISEF Finalist
  • Isaiah Gyamfi (12) – 3rd in Social and Behavioral Science
  • Katherine Muffett (12) – 3rd in Zoology
  • Diamond Pinder (12) – 2nd in Zoology
  • Joseph Seyoum (12)- 1st in Environment
  • Johanna Siegel (12) – 1st in Medicine and Health
  • Ramella Suber (12) – 1st in Social and Behavioral Science
  • Hannah Docter-Loeb (10) – 2nd in Environment
  • Sam Lossef (9) – 1st in Engineering, 3rd Grand Award, ISEF Finalist

Students also won awards from the Public Health Service, the American Statistical Association, the Optical Society of America, Clean Air Partners, MIT Club, Rose-Hulman, the Aerospace Corporation, NASA, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
